I've googled it, and I can't find a reason. I know he's also the patron saint of Ireland but why engineering also?

St Patrick was actually indeed a Welsh man and St David was in fact Irish, so how come St Patrick is the Saint of Ireland and St David is the Patron Saint of Wales, werid!

Seems strange to me that booze is the mode of celebration for St. Patrick and considering he removed the old pagan religion is it really worth celebrating. I'm from the North of Ireland.
