Heart Charm Bead

Hey, I just bought a bracelet off ebay and it allegedly has a clear heart swarovski charm and another smaller red swarovski bead. However, I do not know how to make sure that they truly are swarovski crystal and not plastic. So, does anyone know any methods of checking it (without damaging the bracelet or seeking professional advice?)

The Heart is described to be about 3/4 of an inch.

I was told this as one way to check but I am not 100% sure how accurate it is - but having seen the method used - you will see a noticable difference.

Get a torch and shine it through the crystal - if it is true crystal you will get a crisp clear 'rainbow' effect of colours on a wall/ceiling. If it is plastic, the colours will be noticably less clear and will appear 'smudged'

Give it a go - if you have other crystal - try it on those first to get an impression of what it should look like.

Valentines is nearly here and we#39;ve gone all pink amp; romantic with these pretty heart charm earrings!

i've seen plenty of online business selling jewellery made from plastic charms and beads (eg. poodle, cupcake, button, heart shapes) but no matter how much i google i can't find where you can bulk buy these types of jewellery materials. any ideas?
i don't mind if they are rare or unique, i just want tacky. and i need bulk because it's cheaper.

Wow, I just did some searching too & nothing! I know they exist because I have seen them.

Idea: Beadstyle magazine has TONS of advertisements. Buy a copy of the mag at any bookstore or crafting store & see what you can find in there. I read this mag & I really think there is something in there or there may be a store you can contact to see where you can get them too.

Wait, another idea: have you ever used Fimo or the other one that is similiar (which I like better because it is more pliable)? You can make your own really cook, tacky, kitchy items any size or way you want. It is really easy to use this clay. I designed a box of chocolates that looks like the real thing! Really fun. ive been searching for a website that has cute, young, and pretty beads/charms that i can make jewelry with. not the traditional stuff, but things such as lightning bolts, hearts, clouds, things of that nature. im also looking for big and clear round beads. and it wouldnt hurt if it wasnt TOO expensive. thank you!

Hi there. I recently saw older costume like jewelry at a Habitat for Humanity resale store. There are many resale stores in towns all over America. There is a little ring on most earrings called jump rings. They can be purchased online or at Michael's or almost any craft store. If you find some interesting costume jewelry, you can remove anything attached via jump ring and reattach any cool danglings, like those super adorable strawberries! My grandma has a box full of costume jewelry that she won't let me have....what a pity! Once you take apart a few of these pieces you'll have lots of one of a kind charms and beads to re-use and re-purpose into different designer items...difference is that the designer will be YOU.. have fun...

The Dead Travel Fast

Upon a nice December day
I had unwilling began to stray
Into a place I’d never been
Where things were not a they seemed

I walked down a lane in a amble way
Unladylike, I dare to say
For the night had come all to soon
How quickly the time had passed since noon

I walked very slowly and then very fast
As if someone was lurking down the path
I turned around and leapt in the air
At a small little cat, that was all that was there

I heard a carriage coming up quick
I felt so confused, like it was a trick
A carriage would never go so fast
No it definitely wouldn’t and simply vast

I watched as it ran by in a flash
I thought it would tumble and crash
But it stopped right in front of me
A voice said ‘Come in’, I reluctantly agreed

I sat across from the handsome man
With nig blue eyes but ice cold hands
‘You looked like you were lost and needed help’
I felt terrified, like I was about to yelp

‘I was fine’ I replied quite rudely
The man shuffled and moved ever so shrewdly
I sat very quietly and thought up some lines
With which I would say to pass the time

The carriage began to speed up and tumble and quake
I prayed that one of the wheels would not break
A hash cry called from the driver ahead
The man still not moving, sighed deeply instead

I began to fear the man in question
The speed and the silence began to mount tension
My heart beading wildly as I reached for the door
But when I opened it, there was no ground or floor

I flung back in my seat and began to cry
I had taken a life from a demon, but why?
Was it the charm, or was I under a spell?
Was I riding this carriage all the way to hell?

The man sat forward and tried to console
‘Do not cry, child.’, he hadn’t taken my soul
His hands were cold and no sign of life
This man was dead, and he pulled out a knife

I jumped back and he spoke a few words
‘Do not fear me. I am as harmless a bird.’
His words did not frighten me, nor did his face
All pale and cold, while the carriage kept up its pace

I looked out the window and only to find
That the driver was headless, had I lost my mind?
I screamed and passed out back on the chair
And when I awoke, It wasn’t there

No sign that the carriage had ever passed by
The road where I had awoke from my lie
I shuffled and walked along the path
Until I remembered, the dead travel fast
Sorry, some words are mispelled and some are just the wrong words
Thanks so far, and I will think more about rhyming in future poem writing!
