The Catholic church seems to be very quiet now. What do you think?
Hey, are there any more insights on this one? Since there are a lot of Christians and Catholics all over the world, why can`t the Vatican try to influence or inform followers on a spiritual level about the war happening? Too afraid perhaps? or apathy?

The Catholic Church is telling people in countries stricken by Aids not to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk. The church is making the claims across four continents despite a widespread scientific consensus that condoms are impermeable to HIV. A senior Vatican spokesman backs the claims about permeable condoms, despite assurances by the World Health Organisation that they are untrue. The church's claims are revealed in a BBC1 Panorama programme, Sex and the Holy City, to be broadcast on Sunday. The president of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family, Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, told the programme: "The Aids virus is roughly 450 times smaller than the spermatozoon. The spermatozoon can easily pass through the 'net' that is formed
by the condom. "These margins of uncertainty... should represent an obligation on the part of the health ministries and all these campaigns to act in the same way as they do with regard to cigarettes, which they state to be a danger." The WHO has condemned the Vatican's views, saying: "These incorrect statements about condoms and HIV are dangerous when we are facing a global pandemic which has already killed more than 20 million people, and currently affects at least 42 million." The organisation says "consistent and correct" condom use reduces the risk of HIV infection by 90%. There may be breakage or slippage of condoms - but not, the WHO says, holes through which the virus can pass. I can't believe the Vatican supports this erroneous claim! They are idiots. Of course, I've always thought that such a person, in this high of a position, is dangerous to all mankind and they have proved it to me once again.

The vatican church have stated that it is morally wrong because:

"The killing of innocent human creatures, even if carried out to help others, constitutes an absolutely unacceptable act."

i.e. extracting cells from embryos requires that the embryo then dies. Remember, catholics don't even advocate jerking off or protected sex because it wastes the chance for life. Even the morning after pill is considered murder to them.

To them it's not about unconscious biological cells (only a potential for life but not life) providing cures for fully developed (and dying) humans with Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's. To them it is sacrificing a life to possibly save another.

This is because destroying an embryo is the same as abortion which is the same as murder to them.

Father Pleger is a catholic priest and a white man. That has to be confusing to some. So is the next newscycle the Vatican supports a racist catholic church?? Will we even involve the Pope in our election? Doesn't that seem dumb as all heck?

I wonder if the next President will ban religion altogether. If so, it wouldn't surprise me if people like Reverend Wright and Father Phlegmwad were the cause of people finally saying "death to religion"

I am not a catholic but I do love studying the bible and the history of christianity. I am fully aware of the Constantine era, but I am mainly concern about the so-called underground christians that began as the "Vatican" Church

I think that Catholics will tell you that the Catholic church began from the moment that Jesus appointed Peter as his successor.
