What are the differences between the evangelical and roman catholic churches. Eg can priests marry, what screments are practised etc
just the main ones that really stand out.
thanks
The Evangelical movement spans many different churches, most of them Protestant. Pastors (no priests) can marry, sacraments aren't part of the dogma, there are a lot of differences.
Will the U.S. government be given them their own version of Vatican City in the future.
Those soft thuds you hear coming from the background are all the fundamentalists and evangelicals hitting the ground in a dead faint.
Most of them would rather be butchered with a rusty knife than admit there is even the *slightest* connection between them and us heathern Mary-worshipin pagan Kathlics.
...when it was the early Catholic Church that put together the books of the New Testament?
This is not intended as a dig; I have family members that are evangelical and so I am curious of the logic behind this line of thought?
God bless.
Nobody ever said that the pope was infallible. The pope has the power to make infallible statements, that does not mean he is infallible by nature. A common misunderstanding.
If i can answer this way: From what i've learnt about Catholic believers, they have in-site into scripture that some Christians haven't got, so they say the Catholic churches teaching is contrary to the Holy Bible.
It's a simple answer but it what i've noticed while being on here.
Some people are stuck in their ways/beliefs and don't want to learn new things ; )
Personally i've learnt a lot from our Catholic friends here ~ they are humble believers in Christ, and i've noticed this outside Answers too.
This is a personal revelation to me ~ i can't speak for Evangelical churches. . .
That's all i want to comment on in relation to your question : )
I would like to say you are a wonderful ambassador for Christ.
God bless you bro

Edit:
You know it always astounds me that some ppl stick to saying Catholics believe in a gospel of works - where are you eyes ppl - read what they say please - they DO NOT believe in a gospel of works..
I know this has probably fallen on deaf ears - i'm just so sick of reading it when they clearly say they don't ; )
I am seriosly thinking about it currently. I was raised catholic but was involved with evangelical churches for around 20 years.
I just find now that the more I read about church history, the more I pray about it and the more I hear about the catholic faith that it might be the right way for me.
I do believe protestants can be saved but the more I think, remember, reason the more I realise that that faith is limited and doesnt hold the full truth.
I am still unsure because I hold in high regard a number of leaders, Billy Graham, John Wimber, and I dont want to think those people were completly wrong. That would be silly.
Yet I logicaly can prove that the bible cannot be the only revelation of God and with many evangelicals believing only that I find it stupid. (If you step out of the group you do find the same).
Dont bother me with details about mary, purgetory etc, read www.catholic.com and you will see they are far cleverer than you.
Serious answers only!
As I said I have been evangelical for 20 years. I have a very stong understanding of the bible and used to be the one that could argue without equal about how the bible was the only source of truth.
Evangelicals have a very wrong view of Catholics and I am discovering in general that Catholics are a lot more "spiritual" and focused on Christ than I have seen in evangelical circles.
In many cases as someone mentioned the evangelical churches confuse Adrenelin with the holy spirit.
Please look at www.catholic.com before posting stupid comments. It just shows that evangelicals are closed minded because they are afraid that their faith is wrong.
Wow.
It's all about your relationship with Jesus.
If you can walk closer to Jesus by being a Catholic then awesome. As far as this "whole truth"; I find that GOD has that, and reveals it to us through the Holy Spirit. The church does not save us. Jesus finished work on the cross does. If you want to be Catholic then awesome! If you want the Catholic Church or the Evangelical Church to save you then I think you better re think your salvation.
