Liturgy is the written form of what goes on in a church service.
Find out why people not only endure but actually prefer the ancient liturgical worship style. Find out more at: www.gracelutherantulsa.org
The modern languages used are English and Ukrainian.
The "ancient language" used is Latin, as was historical in all the Catholic churches in the past.

I think it's the Lutheran Hymnal's matins

especially The Te Deum Laudamus when you page down.
Play the midi, even if it is canned organ, it's still beautiful :)
Easter Sunday in our Byzantine Catholic rite... very neat and uplifting... singing "Christos Voskrese" ("Christ is Risen") in old Slavonic... very neat.

Being that I have a friend who is Episcoplian and I am Missouri Synod Lutheran, I would like an explanation as to the doctrinal and differences in the liturgy used weekly. It appears they are similar and yet there is a tremendous difference in their doctrine. I constantly am at odds with my friend over certain issues. I need some help.
Not that difficult so i'll not go into all of it but just main ones that i see.First of all the Lutheran Church Mo Synod does not allow women ministers or they did not yrs ago when i attended where as the Episcopal Church does. The Lutherans believe in co substantiation in there Communion and the Episcopal teaches a presence of Christ in the Communion but it depends on the personal belief's also. The Episcopal Church calls there worship service a Mass and the Lutherans do not. There are many sins tolerated by the Episcopal Church such as Homosexuality and has appointed openly Gay men to the office of Bishop which is causing a split in the Church. Some one else may have a different list but these are the ones that stand out to me as i also was a Episcopalian until i joined the Catholic faith.
The beliefs that seemed to have the greatest impact on worship and its formation besides Jesus & the Apostles.
The Mass follows the outline of a family reunion and the Last Supper:
+ Gather
+ Share stories (Liturgy of the Word)
+ Eat (Liturgy of the Eucharist)
+ Depart
The Mass:
• Is the principal sacramental celebration of the Catholic Church
• Was established by Jesus at the Last Supper
• Renews the mystery of our salvation through participation in the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of Christ
In the Mass, we:
• Gather as one family
• Admit our sins, ask God for forgiveness, and the saints and each other for prayer and support
• Glorify God
• Listen to, ponder and reflect on His Word from the Scriptures
• Pray for the Church, the world, those in need, and ourselves
• Celebrate the Eucharist (Holy Communion) in obedience with Christ's command to "do this in memory of me."
• Are sent out into the world to love and serve the Lord and one another
It is called "Mass" (from the Latin missa) because of the "mission" or "sending" with which the liturgical celebration concludes.
