church baptism?
Baptism Interview: Jenney Shephard

is it wrong if i get baptized more than 1 time is that bad

It's not bad, per se, but it's generally unnecessary. If you have been baptized with water in the name of the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) then you need no other baptism. If you were baptized in some other way, you ought to be baptized. Discuss this with your priest or minister.

From Ephesians 4-6: ..."one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

Paul taught (and the Church follows) the idea of a single baptism that brought all believers into the unitary Body of Christ.

Do you have to pay the church for Baptism?
Christening presents

I would like to have my daughter baptised in the Roman Catholic Church. However I do not have a lot of money to spare. I was told that the church would expect a $200 donation to do the baptism - does anyone know if this is correct?
Thank you everyone for your assistance - I am going to call another church within our area and look into this further!

When we had our son baptized (Catholic), we just had to give a donation to the deacon (or priest) who performed the service. We had to do a baptism class before he was born. We asked then what we should give and they told us to give what we could, but it's usually about $50. If you don't have to take the class, call your church office and ask them what the recommended amount should be. If the church wants $200, find another church.

Why is baptism or church membership required?
Hands on her head

I've read in the new testament that Baptism and church membership (religion) is not a requirement to be saved in Christ. Now that doesn't mean that it would be bad to be baptised or have membership/attendance in a church but according to the position of the bible and what I've read conversion and strong faith is upmost compared to anything else.

The new testament teaches baptism is needed, it is the final step in the salvation process. Once you have accepted Jesus as your savior and have repented of your sins you should be baptized. Baptism (by submersion) represents the death, burial and resurrection. When you go into the water this is the death and burial of your old sinful life, when you come out of the water is the resurrection to your new life, living for Christ instead of yourself.

Romans 6:4 - For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead, now we may live new lives.

Mark 16:16 - Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.

John 3:3,5 - Unless you are born again you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. No one can enter the kingdom of heaven unless they are born again of water.

Acts 2:38 - Each of you must repent, turn to God, and be baptized for the forgiveness of sin.

Does the Catholic Church believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit? How much do they charge?
Priest

The Catholic Church charges about 100 bucks to baptise someone by water, so I wonder how much do they charge for the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Question about Catholic Church baptism records?
Old man

On all the baptism records I've seen, the mothers are listed by their maiden names (eg; Parents: John Smith and Mary Jones). So I'm wondering... does the same apply to the sponsors' names? If the female sponsor is Anna Brown, is Brown her maiden name or married name?

Brown is her married name, if married. Parents were tracked by birth name because that's how priests tracked you from birth to death to ensure they could keep of each person in the sacramental registers. If you married 4 times, you were still tracked by birth name so that the priest knew you were a Catholic in good standing...i.e. neither bigamist nor adulteress, let alone excommunicated heathen.

They weren't as meticulous with sponsors.
