Because on Wikipedia it says that 'The Roman Catholic Church or Catholic Church (see Terminology below) is the Christian Church in full communion with the Bishop of Rome, currently Pope Benedict XVI. It traces its origins and sees itself as the same Church founded by Jesus of Nazareth and maintained through Apostolic Succession from the Twelve Apostles.' So wouldn't Catholic and Christian be the same? Also why do the Simpson's think that the Catholic Church is bad?
It is really sad what some people think the Church to be. I see so many false answers on this. see some of my other answers if you want a clearer picture.
"there are not 100 people who hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they think it to be" Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Yes Catholics are Christian and yes their church is the first church.
Someone wrote Christianity is not buildings I've heard that claim before and the answer sounds good at first but why do they really phrase it like this? because they are attempting to misled others into believing the Catholic Church is only buildings without spiritual content. Lets reverse this shall we, Christianity is also buildings and architecture and sacred art because they are all an expression of our love for God. The real reason these are denied by those who don't have them is simply because they don't have a history. These buildings are a historical record an archelogy of where the true Church can be found. There are no non-Catholic Christian structures or records or art or even bibles prior to the 16th century. During early Christianity you find the regular usage of visual artwork to tell the gospel story. Not everyone could read and not everyone could afford to have a bible copied for their private use the buildings themselves were the gospel story.
I could go on and on but this is already an extremely long answer for yahoo, I would like to say getting answers from this forum will never satisfy see my sources below. For the people claiming the teaching of purgatory and other doctrine aren't in the bible they are you've not been taught know to recognize them, and purgatory is not a Catholic creation the first covenant peoples the Isaelites also believed in a purification of those who have physically dead see: kaddish prayer.
The purpose of this video is to help Protestant Christians and others develop a better understanding of the Roman Catholic Church, its history and ...
i want 2 baptise my son and i dont know wether 2 do it catholic or christian. his father is catholic and i used 2 go 2 christian church. i would like 2 know the difference between the religions, so i can know what i want 2 do.
The Christianity that I profess is that of trust in God. I look to the Bible for information about God, almost always the Bible.
Roman Catholicism has tons of traditions that are not necessarily Christian ones. They have traditions that are not found anywhere in the Bible.
So I suppose that it is a question of what you find is important to you. Do you want a religion, or do you want to know God?
The choice is yours.
Im catholic, and i listen to all sorts of music from techno to heavy metal.
I don't listen to that really bad metal like ones that talk about pain and death and crap like that.
p.s. why do they call it satan's music?
i don't think god will judge us on the music we listen to.
i listen to bands like AC DC and Metallica,
anyways, i wanna know what the church has got against rock/metal music?
I have never heard of any official Church teaching for or against metal music.
I have heard the opinions of individuals but that is more of personal music preference. These are probably the same people whose parents did not like their loud music of the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, or 1970's.
The Catholic Church does teach against anything that hurts the innate dignity of any human being or glamorizes sin and immorality.
If the music you listen to does not injure the human dignity of anyone or encourage anyone to sin then I would not worry about it.
With love in Christ.
I know to become a catholic priest you go to a seminary, but what do you do to be a non denominational christian pastor? also how do you get into these? do you have to go to college first?
Bible school, seminary. Some have no formal schooling at all. I've been at some churches where the Pastor never went to formal schooling and was more anointed than ones I've heard who have. Depends on the church. Most are ordained.
what impact has been made to the catholic church and the protestant churches... today?
The biggest impact that the Protestant reformation had was in commerce. Since the protesting countries stopped arguing religion, they become cognizant of the economy. England introduced banking, other countries introduced new economic concepts. Catholic countries stagnated. You can still see this effect in the economies of Catholic and Protestant countries. I am fuzzy on the concepts, but you can look it up. It was basically an economic reformation.
