Anglican Church, is it really protestant?
Coventry Cross

I know the history of the Anglican Church and that it's similar to Catholicism and I know they consider themselves protestants. But do you think Anglicanism is basically a branch of Catholicism kind of like Greek Orthodox is, or do you think it's faith all to itself, not being Catholic nor Protestant? Or do you think it's protestant?

Theologically and liturgically, the Anglican Church is the closest to Roman Catholicism of all the Protestant denominations. A relatively high proportion of its members convert comfortably to Catholicism in later life, and there are many notable examples; Cardinal Newman in the 19th century, and Ronald Knox (who was the son of an Anglican clergyman) in the 20th.

Why was the Anglican Church important to the English colonies?
St. John's Anglican Cathedral

i really need help with this question for my american history class! Thanks!

I imagine it was important because it united the common English settlers in a strange new world. It was a founding pillar of the new society, separating them from the numerous other religious and ethnic groups. The Anglican Church provided strong moral guidelines that held political weight, as well.

what monarch began the Anglican church in England?
Pipe Organ

I need this for a history test please. Thanx

I'm pretty sure it was King Henry VIII when he had his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled so he could wed Anne Boleyn. It wasn't until their daughter, Elizabeth, became queen that the Protestant Church of England gained the power it maintains today. When "Bloody Mary" became queen she persecuted many Protestants and imposed Catholocism on the people, but Elizabeth used her reign and power to reverse her half-sister's doings.

How has the Anglican Church survived for so long? (see details)?
Glorious Cathedral

As I understand it (and this area of history is not my strong point), the Anglican Church was King Henry VIII's "contribution" to the Reformation. While it was not Roman Catholic and did not recognize the Pope as the head of the church, it instead recognized Mr. King Henry as the head. It therefore retained those aspects of religion which King Henry desired and ashewed those aspects he disliked.
Honestly, with this being public knowledge and given the reputation of King Henry, I am at a loss for how the Anglican system has survived for so long. Any helps or corrections?
Godshew, your answers are always intriguing, but very hard to understand. If you write it out without all the symbols, just regular sentences with periods and commas, I'd probably understand better. Also, I'd love to know what you mean for your source, but it makes no sense to me. Not that you aren't appreciated; thank you for your answer!!!
Biblepreacher: I'm glad to hear you understand this Truth about denominations and I think you're on the right track concerning the Anglican Church. Note, though, that many in England at this time were starving and eager for Truth, and John Knox worked *through* this establishment to minister God's Truth. I just cannot conceive how, knowing what we know now...how it still exists? Since we know it was Henry's little plaything... I am still nonplussed.

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mt 22's Law Law tends to $urvive two ways:
Law -> Law makes one proselyte twofold: Mt 23
(first way mentions compassing "land & sea")
Law <- Law gives power to 1st beast: Rev 13
(2nd rises from 'sea & land': reverse of 1st)

Hence it's said "adversary" goes to<->fro,
seeking whom he may devour on the earth.
It's also said children tossed to<->fro,
reason Paul says: "be no more children".
For children get easily duped, bewitched.

Anglicans now paying price of being law law.

Anglican church: from "law" to "another law",
from popish RCC law to another (KH VIII)law,
from Pope as the head to KH VIII as the head.

"Christ" is head of the body of Christ,
and his head is notably "God"("Grace").
Throne of "grace"? Who's throne is it?

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
