Does the Bible command Christian not to wear jewelry?
thanks everyone for answering this
The Bible commands us not to have anything to do with pagan religious symbols.
The cross is an ancient Egyptian symbol
The Star of David may have it's roots in the star of molech worship
The fish symbol has it's roots in ancient Nimrod and Semiramis worship
The heart symbol is rooted in fertility cults (resembles a woman's....)
The wedding ring is pagan too.
It would be hard to find some piece of jewelry that is considered "religious" that does not have it's roots in pagan worship and it is best not to wear any.
All this can be proven by searching the web.

If this has ever happened to you, were you given a reason, and if so, what was that reason?
If I cannot wear my jewelry, would it be safe to assume that Islamic ladies would also be required to adhere to a dress code?
What about other sorts of religious jewelry or attire? Shouldn't this rule, if one exists, apply to everyone????

Hey, Ding...shouldn't the guy have been asked simply to wear a smaller cross, if the large one was "distracting"?
Why shouldn't the woman have been asked not to wear any head covering at all, if the man had to completely remove his cross??
No. But you can contact the American Center for Law and Justice if your rights as a religous person are trampled on.

I have always been fascinated by certain religious symbols, the cross, hand of hamsa and the star of david to name a few, I have found many pieces that are incredibly beautiful pieces of art and I enjoy wearing them as well, even though they have no real symbolic significance to me, another friend of mine said she feels hypocritical every time she wears a cross because she is not a christian. I told her that you do not need to be religious to enjoy its artwork. Am I wrong in this? Am I being hypocritical?
Some Atheists currently wear mock-religion symbols:
http://evolvefish.com/fish/fsm.html
- The Flying Spaghetti Monster pin
- The Invisible Pink Unicorn Logo
- And the full Pirate Regalia, of course...
But there is no "official" symbol of Atheism. The people who arbor the above-mentioned items do so to protest against the rise of religious influence in the World.
Atheism isn't a form of religion. It harbors no beliefs and its tenants aren't an organized groups.
Now, there is nothing wrong with harboring religious symbols as fashion accessories, it's no different from getting a tattoo of some Chinese character without knowing for sure what it means.
I know that in the jewish faith to wear symbols of their faith or have religious tattos of the nature but does that extend to the Christian faith as well? You know, the body is a temple for your soul and is not rightly yours.
It is Jewish tradition to follow the 613 commandments (mitzvot) mentioned in our Bible. One of these is the proscription against tatoos. Christians are not held to observing these 613 mitzvot -- only Jews. I believe that the reason tatoos are banned is because the idol-worshippers used to tatoo themselves. As for religious jewelry, I don't believe there is a ban against that in Judaism. It depends on what the item would be. Jews do not believe jewelry has a holiness attached to it, such as a crucifix would be to a Christian.
Some background...I'm a 5ft nothing Scottish-American, don't wear religious jewelry and probably DO sound like I grew up in a Jewish neighbourhood.
I get told I am Jewish *all the time.* Like, asked what I'm doing for holidays and if I'd like the Kosher meal at work functions.
Other times, I have people tell me I'm Christian, but I think they are just playing statistical roulette.
How do you decide a person's religion without asking? I don't, but I'm wondering what the code is...
Yup. The pink lace hanky means I'm Wiccan. lol.
Well, my friend, you are suffering from categoritus, a disease of American culture that won't allow us to talk meaningfully with others until we have fully categorized and pigeon-holed them into little buckets we have set up for them.
There is no way to tell unless you are looking at perhaps an orthodox Jew, or perhaps a Catholic priest...you get my meaning, though. Sometimes things are very obvious...but anyone making assumptions like that is taking a risk. That's like asking a gal who's plump when the baby is due...better to keep your mouth shut.
Sorry you have to put up with that. I am married to a short Scottish-American....she's a hoot, and she's not Jewish, either.
