Roman Catholic Medal Question?
(Untitled)

I have recently inherited a small set of "medals". They are tiny, no more than 1/4" wide each; four to a ring. One of them I've identified as the "Miraculous Medal". While still trying to identify the others, I'm interested in knowing their purpose and origin. This set is approximately 50 years old and gold toned, although obviously aged.
Can anyone help or point me in the right directions for some answers? (I've already though about visiting a R.C Priest)

Probably just about any Catholic you know could identify the medals for you. They are usually Saints, Angels or Our Lady. They represent devotion and intercessory prayer.

catholic miraculous medal and bead question?
(Untitled)

Why do miraculous medals have the year 1880 at mary's feet?

Also I have something like a rosary but it has less beads and no decade beads, but it's not a bracelet.
It has a medal of Jesus holding a child and giving the communion. The beads are brown/tan and look like lemon pits. Does anyone know what they can be and what is the symbolism of the beads please? What do they stand for and mean? (if anything..I thought it was such a strange bead it must mean something for the devotion)

Thank you
I searched google image for job's tears and this one matches exactly!

i'd love to learn how to pray it
And tyvm everyone else who answered too.
yes it has 33 beads, thank you very very much

1880 is the year that the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in Paris and requested that a medal be made to represent the vision. The medal's real name is "The Medal of the Immaculate Conception," but because so many miraculous events have happened to those who wear it suspended around their necks, it has become popularly known as the Miraculous medal.

I'm not sure what your chaplet is for, but the 'beads' sound very much like Job's Tears, a large seed that is used for Rosaries and chaplets (smaller versions of a Rosary.) Hopefully someone will recognize your chaplet and be able to tell you how to pray it.

Edit:

Does your chaplet have 33 beads? If so, it's a Chaplet of the Blessed Sacrament, and this is how it's said:

Blessed Sacrament Beads

These consist of a medal of the Blessed Sacrament and thirty-three beads, recalling the thirty-three years of Christ’s life on earth.

On the medal one makes a spiritual communion as follows: As I cannot now receive Thee, my Jesus, in Holy Communion, come, spiritually into my heart, and make it Thine own forever.

On each bead say: Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, have mercy on us!

Catholic Jewelry for 9 yr. old girl - St. Medal?
My rosary beads....haven't used them in a long time.

I would like to get a present for a 9 yr. old girl. Her parents divorced in August and the mother is going back to the Catholic church. The daughter is going to follow her to the Catholic faith. I want to get the little girl a present, such as jewelry. Not sure what would be good. There are tons of Saint medals but not sure what is what and which would be appropriate. Thanks for your help!

How about a nice rosary?

With love in Christ.

question for Catholics: who is on this medal?
18 of 365

I have a medal from my grandmother picturing someone on a throne holding the infant Christ, with a man and woman on either side of the throne, kneeling.

Any ideas what kind of medal this is? I'm a Catholic-to-be who was raised Protestant so I'm a little ignorant when it comes to things like saint's medals. Thank you!

I agree, hard to tell without actually seeing it.

Sometimes St. Joseph is pictured holding the baby Jesus.

You might take it to RCIA class and ask there.

God Bless and Welcome to the Faith!
