where i can find catholic gift stores in seattle?
Last Supper

Hello, I'm looking for stores that sell catholic stuff like Jesus, Mary figurines, rosaries, and everything else. I've found one Filipino store near Morning Glory at Aurora that sells these, but I'm looking for other places. Where can I find other catholic gift stores? Thanks in advance.

What do you do if a catholic person gives you a catholic ´´gift``?
lisbeth's story

You know, some of them give statues of their saints, medals with their saints´ pictures and such things to other people.

I just reject it. For 2 reasons:

a) I´m not catholic. Then, I don´t need catholic things near me. It´s only rational.

b) Catholic people don´t like LGBT things at all. Then, I´m not obliged to get catholic things either. It´s only fair.

What do you think about that?

well i understand were your coming from, but i have to disagree with you on b). im catholic and so is my mom but we aren't against the LGBT. only the book of lies, the bible, does. the bible says many things that even the priest disagree with. its all been rewritten by people who ''think'' there with god. if they didn't like something they changed it.

What do you think if a catholic gives a catholic music CD to an LGBT person as a Christmas gift?
Girl's Baptism Rosary 3

Well, if he gives such gift to a catholic gay or lesbian, it´s OK. At least it makes some sense.

But if he gives it to an LGBT person who IS NOT catholic, I think it can mean 2 possible things: he´s provoking you or he´s trying to drag you to his church.

I think the reason why homosexuals dislike religions has to do with religion hating homosexuals. Religion has nothing to do with a persons sexual orientation. Religion has done a good job of teaching us "Man and Woman", that's their job. Along the same lines, religion has taught that Homosexuality is bad, so people, trying to teach their children to be "good Christian children" teach their children that Homosexuality is bad and the right one Is to be straight. Religion has kept us bound, frightened, uptight, abused and unhappy. I do not like, though, what has been done in the name of religion. How sad that in a great democracy we can not be what we really are. If the person knows that I'm lesbian an then gimme a Catholic music CD I would be mad cause I would think that the person Is giving me the Catholic music CD just to try to change my orientation and I wouldn't accept It.

Do you give a gift at a Catholic Confirmation?
Girl's Baptism Rosary 2

I'm not Catholic, but a friend is and her daughter is having her confirmation next week. Should I take a gift to celebrate the occasion?

Ja, si, da, oui, yes.

Nothing too big or fancy, though. A rosary would be appropiate, but she's probably going to get a lot of them. I got money for my confirmation ... sweet! And a St. Francis statue (Saint I chose).

what does one get for a gift for a Catholic Bishop Ordination?
Girl's Baptism Rosary 1

My uncle is being ordained as a Catholic Bishop in September, and not having been raised Catholic myself, I have no idea what an appropriate gift is.

The best gift you can give a newly ordained bishop is an endowment fund in his name, proceeds going to either the Diocese itself or the seminary of the Diocese.

Where I live, our Diocese has endowments called "burses" (which is a Catholic term for a cardboard envelope used in Mass). They can be as little as $5. We have more than 250 of them, and there is one named after each of our Bishops, as well as many beloved priests, families, parishes, etc. So I would call the Diocese and ask if there is such an endowment program. Then either start the burse/endowment in your uncle's name or contribute to the one that exists.

This is a gift that will last FOREVER, because the principle is never spent; only the interest. It's a very nice thing to do that recognize your uncle's new role in his assigned Diocese.

(I do hope you'll go to the installation -- it's not every day that one gets to witness that!)
