One of them online said December 16th, the other one didn't say.
I know lent is this weekend. Just wondering should I do the December 16th, for nine days. That would be in time for Christmas Day.
you mean advent, not lent. Lent is 40 days before Easter.
Christmas is an Octave (8 days) I believe. Starting with Christmas Eve, and ending New Years Eve...or is that Christmas Day and New Year's day? Sheesh.

I'm going to be spending Christmas with people who will no doubt complain that I don't got to church and don't believe in Christianity. What are some level, non-aggressive arguments?
Please know that I'm not trying to hurt or offend, but Christmas is a Christian holiday. Technically, why would someone who doesn't believe in it celebrate it?
God bless.
I think of Christmas as a CHRISTian or Catholic holiday. If not everyone believes in what that religion believes in, why is Christmas like celebrated like it is?
Christmas was originally a pegan celebration of the winter solstice honoring the moon and sun for the longest night of the year. Pegans would decorate trees with ornaments that represented the earth stars moon and sun. The angel on the Christmas tree was originally a star. Christmas was made by the pope in hopes of converting pegans to at least worship ok a single day instead of thier two weeks of honor. Here the tree was forced to be cut down and brought inside because at the time pegans where to be executed if not converted.
In Norse religion the tree represents yggdrassil the world tree on which Odin the all father hung himself so he could learn how to save his people. The ash tree as it was called would be decorated with markings each represented another nose god or realm. The tree would be brought inside the home to help ward off evil spirits during this time. The Norse beloved also that Multiple santas would come each with a differnt intent.
Santa Clause is also the nickname given to an old man named Nicholas of Germany who would make shoes and wooden toys for the children of Germany during the harsh winter.
Some recommendations?
The mass that is on the night of the 24th December I mean
That would be called a Vigil Mass. They are usually at midnight on Christimas Eve. Go to the Catholic Church websites and look for their Vigil Mass. All Masses are the same all over the world. That is why the Catholic Church is called the Universal Church. God Bless...
I'm a costume chief in the show "Doubt" and am doing a little research. Just need to know the color scheme- like lent is purple, Christmas is white and gold.... Catholic is importent.
Go to this website: http://www.kencollins.com/glossary/litur gy.htm#colors
The Catholic Church follows standardize colors for seasons with specific dates that most Christian churches likewise follow wear the priest wear clerical attire.
This is the best site which I use for reference, it covers all the colors, dates and occasions. It is easier to refer you to the webpage than to paste the entire page here.

CARIBBEAN CATHOLIC: It#39;s Like Christmas but not
I usually don't carry my family into that hot church on a Good Friday. We pray together and that is that. We do alot together. Isn't that what family is about? I came home today to a Sedar (passover) meal... or something like it. My daughter wanted to try making it with her mother. So we had stew Lamb (instead of roasted lamb bone), boiled eggs (instead of roasted), Charoset and pita bread. Bitter herbs are not an option when I am being fed. It was a good meal. To finish such a meal there should be four glasses of red wine. I think I'll have a scotch instead... or maybe a ponche-a-creme... you know... just like it's Christmas... only not!
An Archdiocese of Washington Catholic: It#39;s Like Christmas...
Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, made the call March 23, moments after president Barack Obama signed the Senate version of health care reform legislation approved by the House of Representatives by a slim margin, March 21. The statement was approved unanimously by the 32-member Administrative Committee of the USCCB.
