I need to get married in a NJ Roman Catholic Church asap. Most have 1 year wait time. Any suggestions?

It could be on a weekday..

I'd contact the parish office and see what could be arranged.

I think the one-year wait time is in order for you and your spouse-to-be to attend a Pre-Cana Conference--a kind of premarital counseling intended to make you, as a couple, aware of various issues that may need to be addressed before they turn into major problems following the wedding.

Good luck to you both!

Anyone know a catholic church in bergen county nj that'll marry baptised unconfirmed catholic with chrisitian?

Anyone know of a catholic church in Bergen County, NJ that would marry a never married baptised but not confirmed male with a never married chrisitian woman.

Any Catholic parish should be able to marry the couple. The basic requirement that one is a baptized Catholic has already been met.

There are many parishes in Bergen County, NJ, just pick the closest one, call them up, explain the situation, and they will give you all the options.

Here is a list of Bergen County parishes: http://www.rcan.org/parishes/bergenparis hes.htm

Why is the Catholic church so dominant in the NY/NJ area, and in Central & S. America?

Central and South America were colonized by Spain immediately following the Spanish Inquisition. It was very important to the Spanish at the time that all the inhabitants convert to Catholicism. Most of the residents of that part of the world have kept the religion ever since.

New York City was the port of entry for millions of Catholic immigrants from Ireland and southern and eastern Europe. Many of them stayed in that area and other Catholics have settled in the area because it is Catholic friendly compared to other areas.

Getting married in the Catholic Church--when your fiance is methodist?

Getting married in July and I'm trying to find a Catholic Church who will marry a catholic (me) and a methodist (my fiance). I know the Catholic church is very strict on such circumstances and requires you to promise to raise your children Catholic or to even convert to Catholicism. I am looking for a church in the NJ shore area who is somewhat "liberal" and will marry 2 people from different religious backgrounds.
The church we had originally planned on is now "unavailable" and has no a/c--so we are going nuts trying to find another church. I'm running out of options as all the methodist churches are either too small or not what i imagined.
Yes I am a church goer and I am very accepting and open minded of people's religious beliefs-I do not judge.

If you answer, I am not looking for criticism but some guidance and direction on whether or not it is possible for us to even marry in a Catholic setting. If so, any recommendations are appreciated!

I'd say get married at a non denominational church , I was raised catholic and the Lord brought me out of it. I would never ever want a catholic wedding (never ever) my whole family is catholic and that is what they would want for me (but it's never going to happen haha) Or perhaps get married in the methodist church. But shun the Catholic church just like they are so quick to shun your soon to be husband. Just give it a thought.

I thought it was funny that you put two religious backrounds on your questions when i asked the question are catholic's christian and i get they are the same thing! um so it seems like if the Catholics won't marry two people that aren't both Christian (as you say not me) then who is really separating them? you are..

Trying to find a Rowan Catholic Church in a certain area for my family...how can I find where some are?

  • Bergen bCatholic/b (bN.J./b) vs. Westfield (Mass.) at… Ken Strong b.../b

A good pickup by New Haven Register high school football reporter/historian/God Bob Barton who picked up this little tidbit on his football radar screen:

New Jersey power Bergen Catholic will play Westfield, Mass. at Ken Strong Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Apparently, the two schools compromised on this neutral site match smack dab in the middle of our country. After a few searches, I found little information on this game (and no link from NHR), but I was told Barton had it listed in his annual preseason games-to-watch column today.

Personally, I have no real interest in this game outside of cursory curiosity. I’d also be interested to see how many people this game draws to Ken Strong Stadium, which I’m sure is contracted to take some of the gate.

And it's just in time for the Garden State's introduction of marriage equality legislation !

A letter circulating the Catholic churches of America's armpit — signed by "bishops from Newark, Metuchen, Trenton, Paterson and Camden" ‐ warns parishioners that gay fmilies are going to eat their children. Or something as ridiculous.

"As citizens, Catholics also have the right and responsibility to oppose laws and policies that unjustly target people as bigots or that subject them to charges of unlawful discrimination," reads the letter in part , "simply because they believe and teach that marriage is the union of man and a woman. … As Catholics, we must not stand by in silence in the face of the many challenges that threaten marriage and, in turn, children and the public good."
